Crafted (and artfully distressed) by hand in the U.S.A., the 1865 Distressed Open Road Royal Deluxe combines the key features of the Royal Deluxe—the supple feel, flexible finish and snap brim—with unique style details. Like all Open Roads, the 1865 Distressed Royal Deluxe easily transitions from city to country, and looks equally sharp on a woman or a man.
Introduced in 1937, the Open Road was originally sold with an open crown, which could then be creased to the customer’s liking. Since 1948, it has been finished with a traditional, hand-pressed cattleman crease, and has been worn by modern pioneers and trailblazers ever since, from artists and outlaws to Presidents (including, most notably, LBJ, who was rarely photographed on his Texas ranch without his Open Road).
The 1865 Distressed Open Road Royal Deluxe features a genuine leather sweatband and a 4 ¼” crown outfitted with a grosgrain hat band, an eye-catching feather detail and a hat pin honors Stetson’s Western heritage—and a nod to the pioneering spirit that lives on in every hat we sell.

Size Guide
How to determine your hat size
Option 1: The Measuring Tape Method
Start with a measuring tape (or a piece of string you can measure later), and wrap it around your head, placing it where your hat will sit — typically, at the middle of your forehead and about 1/8″ above your ear. Hold the tape firmly, but not uncomfortably tight. Find your size using the chart below. If your measurement falls between sizes, order a size up; you can always add a bit of padding in the sweatband to achieve the perfect fit.
Option 2: The Snapback Trick
A slightly less accurate, but convenient alternative is to grab a snapback hat, and map your most comfortable fit to the chart. As with the above technique, if your measurement falls between sizes, order a size up. You can always add a bit of padding in the sweatband to achieve the perfect fit.
